Franciscan St. Francis Health nurses receive training, program grants

INDIANAPOLIS – The Franciscan St. Francis Health Employee Education Fund has enabled five of its registered nurses to receive additional training in their specialties.

The program provides financial support to non-physician employees for educational opportunities they otherwise could not afford to attend. The fund is intended for specific programs and seminars, not general tuition reimbursement or individual certifications.

Recipients of the 2012 program are registered nurses: Veda Hicks, Julie Lavender (intensive care unit-Mooresville), Tanya Hall (catheterization lab-Indianapolis), Amy Sprague (Nursing Services-Indianapolis) and Martha Stern (adult inpatient rehabilitation unit)-Indianapolis.

In their applications, the recipients were required to show how the funding supports the St. Francis Health’s goals and mission; who ultimately benefits from the educational opportunity; and if the applicants demonstrate the ability to plan, coordinate or facilitate a quality educational event as a result of their training.

Funding is administered through the Franciscan Alliance Foundation-St. Francis Health.
