Among those named is
Michael E. Berend, MD, a surgeon with the Center for Hip and Knee Surgery at
Franciscan St. Francis Health—Mooresville.
According to Orthopedics This Week, “Knee surgeons at
the top of their game let us know their thoughts on the best orthopedic
surgeons in their subspecialty. Here is that list.”
What follows is a
list of 26 knee surgeons in alphabetical order obtained through a telephone
survey of “thought leaders in the field,” along with quotes from those leaders.
Fourth on the list is Berend, who serves on the executive board of the American
Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He is listed along with his brother,
Keith Berend, MD, a joint surgeon in Columbus, Ohio.
According to one
survey responder, “(Michael Berend) has done substantial research on total and
partial knee replacement. He is a really high-volume surgeon….”
