New physician joins Columbus Primary & Specialty Care staff

COLUMBUS, Indiana – E. Doug Poplin, MD, MPH has established a practice with Franciscan Physician Network Columbus Primary & Specialty Care.

Board-certified in family medicine, he most previously was medical director and staff physician at Franciscan WorkingWell (occupational services). He also serves as medical director of St. Thomas More Free Clinic, a medical outreach program to the underserved in Mooresville.

Dr. Poplin also was a consulting occupational health physician for the federal government in Indianapolis and an industrial health services doctor for Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Georgetown, Kentucky.

He is a certified civil surgeon by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service and certified medical examiner for the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Dr. Poplin received his undergraduate degrees in biochemistry and molecular biology at Centre College of Kentucky (Danville) and earned his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine (Lexington), where he received academic honors.

He completed a family medicine residency at Franciscan St. Francis Health and later earned a master of public health in occupational medicine from the Medical College of Wisconsin.
