INDIANAPOLIS – Thomas Webb III, MD, has been named co-medical director of Vascular Services at Franciscan St. Francis Health.
Dr. Webb comes to Franciscan St. Francis Health and Cardiac Surgery Associates (CSA), from Omaha, Neb., where he was Director of Vascular Surgery for Catholic Health Initiatives at Bergan Mercy Hospital.
 As a nationally renowned vascular surgeon, Dr. Webb has performed more than 20,000 complex vascular surgeries during his career and has expertise in minimally invasive vascular and endovascular surgery.

He is a leader in innovative treatment of complex vascular disease combining depth of experience in major surgical procedures with the full spectrum of minimally invasive techniques,” said Marc Gerdisch, MD, chief of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery at Franciscan St. Francis Heart Center. “With Dr. Webb’s arrival, in combination with our already outstanding team of surgeons, interventional cardiologists, interventional radiologists and wound care specialists, we expand to a level of care rarely accomplished.”

Dr. Webb has received numerous awards and honors as a leader and innovator in vascular surgery. He has been named among 100 Best Doctors in America® and was first in Omaha to develop a protocol for complex dialysis access salvage to streamline care. In addition, he was first in Omaha to use aortic endografts during surgery and introduced the use of endoscopic vein harvesting.

Dr. Webb earned his medical degree from Medical College of Virginia in 1984 and completed his residency training in general surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and his fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Chicago.

He conducts presentations nationally on minimally invasive vascular and endovascular surgery and participates in landmark research. Dr. Webb has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Vascular Surgery, and serves as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals.
