Franciscan St. Francis Health selects new chief financial officer

INDIANAPOLIS – Keith A. Lauter has been appointed Chief Financial Officer, Central Indiana Region for Franciscan St. Francis Health, a division of Franciscan Alliance.

In that role he will oversee all financial matters, business development and outreach activities with physicians, health care providers and insurance companies at Franciscan St. Francis’ hospitals in Indianapolis, Mooresville and Carmel. 

He succeeds Jay Brehm, who was appointed senior vice president of Strategic Planning and Business Development for Franciscan Alliance earlier this year.

From 2004 to present, Lauter served as chief financial officer for Franciscan St. Elizabeth hospitals in Lafayette and Crawfordsville. Among his accomplishments was the establishment of company clinics, acquisitions and development of physician practices and he additionally led several cost-savings initiatives.

Lauter is a familiar face to many at Franciscan St. Francis having served as its director of finance and later as vice president of finance from 1989 to 2004. Before coming to Franciscan Alliance, he worked for North Central Health Services and Arthur Anderson & Company.

Lauter received his undergraduate degree in accounting at Ball State University at Muncie and later earned a master’s in business administration from Indiana Wesleyan University at Marion.

A Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, he has been active in various professional and community outreach programs, including: American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Healthcare Financial Management Association, Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis and as a recreational soccer coach.

Lauter and his wife, Linda, are the parents of three children.
