Weight Loss, Diabetes and Integrative Health Centers move to new location

INDIANAPOLIS – The St. Francis Weight Loss Center and the Franciscan Center for Integrative Health have moved to their new location at 5230A E. Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis, 46237.

The expanded offices are across Stop 11 Road from St. Francis Hospital – Indianapolis, west of the Indiana Heart Physicians building.

The St. Francis Diabetes & Endocrinology Center treats adult patients with diabetes or endocrine disorders. The center offers an extensive list of diabetes education programs, recognized by the American Diabetes Association. The diabetes center can be reached at (317) 865-5904.

The Franciscan Center for Integrative Health uses both conventional treatments, as well as “complementary” or “alternative” therapies to provide care for patients. Health and healing are based upon addressing patients’ physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally, as well as examining the impact of their connections within the community. The St. Francis Weight Loss Center is an American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence. Endocrinologist joins St. Francis Medical Group


INDIANAPOLIS – Miroslava H. Kouzmova-Moneva, M.D., a member of St. Francis Medical Group, has joined Southside Diabetes and Endocrinology.

She most recently was an endocrinologist with Medical Group of Fort Wayne and previously was an internist and endocrinologist with the Aurora Medical Group in Wisconsin.

Board-certified in endocrinology and internal medicine, Moneva’s clinical interests include diabetes and general endocrinology.

Moneva is a graduate of Medical University in Bulgaria, where she later held an academic appointment. She completed an endocrinology fellowship and internal medicine residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and an internal medicine residency at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

Moneva earned various academic honors in medical school and as an intern. She holds memberships in the Indiana State Medical Association, American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the Endocrine Society.

Diabetes patients, families served by St. Francis support program

INDIANAPOLIS – The Diabetes Support Group at St. Francis Hospital & Health Centers has launched a new series of weekly programs.

The group will meet 6:30 p.m., the first Thursday of each month, from February to December. There’s no cost for participating patients and their families.

Meetings are held at the St. Francis Education Center, 5935 S. Emerson Ave., Suite 100 in classroom 2.

St. Francis diabetes education program earns national recognition

INDIANAPOLIS – The Diabetes Education Program at St. Francis Hospital & Health Centers has been awarded continued accreditation for its work by the American Diabetes Association.

The ADA Education Recognition cites the Diabetes Self-Management Program at St. Francis’ three hospitals at Indianapolis, Beech Grove and Mooresville as offering high-quality education services to their patients.

“Self management education is an essential component for diabetes treatment,” said Carol Reed, M.P.H., a certified diabetes educator at the St. Francis Diabetes Center. “The accreditation process gives professionals a national standard by which to measure the quality of the services they provide – and certainly it helps patients to identify these quality programs.

The center offers a number of diabetes classes to help you take control of your health, including:
Continuous Blood Glucose Monitoring
Comprehensive Diabetes Comprehensive Classes
Insulin Administration
Insulin Pump Program
Nutrition Counseling
Preconception Care for Women with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes
