Free yoga class at St. Francis Health takes aim at helping cancer patients

INDIANAPOLIS – Studies have shown a direct link between mind-and-body connectivity in activities such as yoga, resulting in improved health outcomes for cancer patients.

That’s why St. Francis Cancer Center, in coordination with the Cancer Support Community of Central Indiana, are offering a gentle stretch yoga class 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9, in classrooms I and II at Franciscan St. Francis Health – Indianapolis, 8111 S. Emerson Ave.

The class – which is free to cancer patients and their caregivers – emphasizes low-impact exercise. Shirley Wagle Valenti, an instructor for the Cancer Support Community, will lead the one-hour class.
